I like the male singer's voice. He has that raspy sound, or something, that gives the song a special "feel".
This song is NOT an animals original. they only made it popular. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Gloria Caldwell and Sol Marcus for the singer/pianist Nina Simone, who first recorded it in 1964. The animals didn't perform it until '65.
