I got bit last summer by one of those, it's felt like someone pinching me with sharp finger nails until a chunk falls off

@genomic The bug in the video is a spruce bug, they only live for a few days and then they look for a spruce tree to make a "hole", lay eggs and die. They are pretty much blind and use those rabbit ears looking antennas to navigate while flying. As a result when they land on someone they often think they've found a tree and start "digging" taking out a nice chunk of skin. It's probably one of the nastiest bites in Ontario. I had my fair share working at the lumber mill.

they actually rip out a chunk for no fricken reason

@zanski11 pussy

it's a spruce bug, northwestern ontario has them, aggressive as hell, will attack for no reason and they do take a chunk out of you and it hurts and burns
-
That's a spruce sawyer. They won't bite unless you threaten them, and even then its harmless and won't cause you any pain. Those of you saying their bite hurts like hell, you're probably thinking of spruce beetles who look completely different.

Those bugs are nasty, we get a lot of them here and I kill every one I see... They take a chunk out of you when they bite... Those things like to eat wood so you see them all the time in the lumber yards
i wonder if those fuckers can pick up cable?
