This is only at a few stops in certain areas. The Shibuya line at peak times will be like this, but it's only for a few stops, as people get off. Most of the trains are not like this, just specific areas at core times.

The reality is - I loved the pushers. You don't wait for someone to yell 'can everyone move back please' 8000 times while people move two inches, not wanting to be rude, and the train ends up late. They push, everyone gets on, no one feels rude, and the train leaves on time.
