January 9th, 2009 Microsoft opened their arms and invited the world to demo their new windows seven. This operating system has been in development since windows vista was released, or even earlier, and essentially is what "longhorn" was meant to be. Think of windows 7 as vista with a few more features, a few less problems, and an overall lighter OS.

This video is just my initial impressions of the public beta, build 7000. I really touch on application management and compatibility in this video. Although I do miss exposé, application management is really interesting in windows 7.

  • LoL "and all that jazz"

  • 1st IN 2 YEARS?!

  • And with OS X I shouldn't have to worry if that cool hardware is compatible and with Linux I shouldn't have to read dumb outdated techdocs to get some random codec working (plus the millions of other things wrong wth Linux) or how to install/run the best commercial software without issues.

  • I have 3 copies of Windows 7, including build 7260 which is one of the more recent builds, tested on my hard drive, removed it, but I still have it in Vmware. So next time, don't make foolish assumptions. I'm not saying that Windows 7 is not any better than Vista because it is, I'm just saying that both suck and no, I don't like OS X or Linux either, yeah, I know, it sucks. I shouldn;'t have a system on which I have to worry about viruses and potential hackers or spyware.

  • Um how about try running the release candidate for awhile. Most of the tech community actually likes it, it is very stable, compatible with everything currently out there which was not the case when Vista came out, and overall is really a great step in the right direction. How about you try it before you flame it first.

  • win 7 sucks lol

  • Yes, because that's the one you do NOT want to buy....so blurry...sigh

  • Oh sorry forgot to add....upgrading to 7 from XP is great. People have been getting the RC to run on old XP machines with RAM as low as 512 MB as MS wants 7 to run on netbooks as well. Do not be afraid to try W7 as Vista may have been a heartache. BTW revivedone what size is your MacBook? I am an HP man myself but I gotta say aluminum bodies are very snazzy.

  • Uh release candidates are basically the final build, not betas. They added a bit more after the beta.

  • Great vid man.

your videos are the 1st I've seen with this high quality.

    (res)

    I just got a refurb mb pro (early 08) 15" 2.5.

As you mentioned, bootcamp doesn't format the partition just creates it.

thats because depending on which version of windows you install your format options are different.

    XP does FAT32 and NTFS.

    vista only does NTFS.
