Well . . . the original Macross movie (Do You Remember Love) in essence also re-told the original series stories with a few changes and twists. For example Lisa (or Misa Hayase) and Rick (or Hikaru Ichijo) during the movie end up landing on the desolate earth and in essence discover the Atlantis - this was not part of the original series.

If Macross F does indeed follows the series storyline then it will be following the original Macross tradition so-to-speak.

actually she is spoiled. She clings to Alto too much and only talks about herself with him. Sheryl on the other hand, does her best to not involve Alto in most of her problems and rly shows better chemistry between her and Alto. Besides, the fact that they confirmed Brera to be Ranka's brother is to continue the love triangle or it would have been Ranka x Brera since the beginning. Well it still depends if you prefer the more assertive, strong character or the clumsy cutesy type.
