Correct me if I'm forgetting the provisions of the Road Traffic Act, but isn't an offence to use your horn in a stationary vehicle?

I was told that if I was asked how to check the indicators are working then I shouldn't just use the hazard warning lights. That might show that the lights are working but it doesn't show that the indicators are working.

There is a difference between checking the indicators (that is the lights themselves) and the indicator 'switch'. The check you describe will ensure the operation of the indicator switch but this is not a requirement of the test. The only requirement is to check that the inidicators, i.e. the lights, are working. This can be done by using the hazard warning light switch. The check you suggest is equally valid but you will need to check the left side and then the right side. Thanks, Bob
