  • I really needed to hear this. Iam a freshman in college and was recently diagnosed with Bi Polar Disorder and I've been through soo much of the same things you've said. I was a very good student in highschool and when i got to college for some reason everything changed it just fell apart and i didnt know why. so i decided to see someone about it and short after the doctor diagnosed me. Its nice to see i am not the only one struggling with this and I am not alone. Thank you so very much for this.

  • The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a mental health watchdog, responsible for helping to enact more than 150 laws protecting us from abusive or coercive practices.

CCHR has fought to restore human rights to mental health, including, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, risks of psychiatric treatments,

and the RIGHT TO REFUSE TREATMENT. I was a victim of psychiatry for many years, Im not part of this group but agree 1000%

  • Sorry but people who say that you shouldn't be able to go to college because of bipolar is bullshite. I battled bipolar one in my FE college with a teacher who was a trigger I graduated with A Distinction distinction merit and now in HE college I am doing my 3 year degree Yes I miss classes because of my moods but I text friends asking for them to pick me up some notes I get all my assignments in on time and I DON'T TAKE ANY MEDICATION. grow a pair people!

  • Right on, Andrew - totally identified with what you said. You sound like a very smart guy who has it all together, so well done on keeping up appearances! I know you'll do well.

  • Andrew I have the same problem, and I'm thinking about dropping out next semester because I can't put my self to get things done like you said I no longer have that ability.. I can't get a job at this economy and if i got one i would probably lose it based on my mental capacity.. I hope your successful in a university i did a semester and then had a episode that took me to the hospital.

  • I have finished my first semester. The docs label it Bipolar disorder type 1, however I just know what I go through. Labels meaning nothing compared to living with what I do.

  • @Shorti10252000 Sorry, I don't know if I replied to you or not. But refer to my last few posts.

  • @jm227307 I'm able to move back to my school and live in an apartment with two of my friends. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish college without too many interruptions. Don't think it's too late to finish. And don't think this disorder can limit you, because you can be successful with the proper help. Look at Drew Barrymore and Patty Dukes, that singer from Blue October, they've lived with dipolar and have been able to achieve their dreams.

  • It's definitely not too late. When I was diagnosed, I had been like Andrew. I was involved in school activities, different organizations, and I was doing well in school. I had to see a counselor, and finally after a few months I was able to get in with the psych. for medication. But before I could get the medication, my grades had slipped dramatically and I had to move back home and withdraw from school. After about four months of just trying to cope with the medication and my disorder,
