Orangutan Pirates of Borneo

An ex-captive Orangutan, in the wilds of Borneo, steals a fisherman's dugout canoe tied to the dock. The Orangutan paddles the dugout to the middle of the lagoon and boards the anchored diesel riverboat. She pulls up a submerged fish trap tied to the boat, loads it in her dugout and pushes off again. She takes a fish out of the trap and eats it - the goal of her mission.

Of course it's real. We happened to have a video camera and saw an Orangutan manning the dugout. Wouldn't you let the camera roll? It really happened.

this is pretty remarkable, it shows they they are capable of learning just as we are, here the Orangutan figured out how to use a boat.

@JamesThWilliams They will occasionally taste different things out of curiosity - especially if it's been a year of drought when fruit is rare. Bu their diet normally consistsof vegetation and fruti.

Orangutans are so intelligent. I love the way she uses her foot to hang on to the dugout so it doesn't float away !

I didn't realize that Orangutans ate fish at all. Of course this just goes way beyond what you would expect to see even from a trained animal.
