3.) The I4 engine is a Ford design, with a chain-driven 4 cylinder 2000cc 8-valve and then a 16-valve cylinder head. Cosworth did develop a 2300cc contra-rotating balancer shaft version (nicknamed "Lanchester"), but this was only used in Galaxy MPV's.
1.) The Duratec V6 was originally a Mazda design. Cosworth did develop a racing version called the "QG", for use in the Mondeo's competing in the British and World Touring Car championships. It shared the same basic block and head castings, but apart from that it was totally new. Mazda have designed many engines for Ford, because they are part of the Ford group, the same as Volvo, Jaguar, etc.
2.) The Duratec V6 has absolutely nothing to do with...
I have had my Ford Contour since 2001, its the 95 SE with the V6. You can just goto wikipedia and look it up. "The 2.5 L and 3.0 L V6 Duratecs are evolutions of the same design, first used in the 1994 Ford Mondeo. It is a modern aluminum DOHC V6 with a 60° bank angle. The primary engineering input came from Porsche, who were developing a similar V6 before selling the engineering to Ford, and Cosworth, who helped with cylinder head manufacturing". Just look up the Mondeo V6, it is the same motor.
The Duratec engine base was designed by Porshe and sold to Ford. Ford then went to Cosworth and had them design the heads. Mazda had nothing to do with any aspect of the engine, they just use them in their automobiles since Ford owns a major portion of Mazda. Mazda did build the Ford Probe for Ford, but that is the only time Mazda ever built anything for Ford Motors.
Thank you for putting these up. Very informative, good for all of Ford's V6 Duratec motors. Some small differences, but pretty much same head design from Cosworth and same engine design from Porsche. Cosworth Rocks!!

I cant edit my comments, but forget that last one, it was the straight four ones that were the cosworth/ford.

Your getting confused with the V6 and the I4 engines, V6 was a solo effort by Ford, it was the I4 engines that had the Cosworth input.

Duratec was a Mazda/Ford engine, it had nothing to do with Cosworth or Porsche
