Organizers of the Warkworth Maple Syrup Festival hosted a Media Day at the Sandy Flats Sugar Bush to help celebrate the 25th annual festival.
The festival runs Saturday, March 12th and Sunday, March 13th, 2011.
This year's festival starts on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 with a presentation by the Spirit of the Hills which includes illustrated talks on the work of local artists, on the creative process and on living through art in the contemporary world. Funding for the presentations came from a $17,000 grant from Heritage Canada's Local Arts and Heritage Festivals Program, announced in November.
The festival also includes "How Sweet It Is: The Potters, The Music and The Maples" on Thursday, March 10th, 2011, which follows the lives of George and Alice Potter, owners of Sandy Flats Sugar Bush and celebrates their contributions to the community. Admission to the show is free and is sponsored by Heritage Canada. Tickets are required for admission and are available at Eclectic Mix in Warkworth.
Activities in the Village of Warkworth run all day on Saturday and Sunday and include a Juried Art Show, Antiques & Nostalgia Show & Sale, Craft Shows at the Warkworth Town Hall Centre for the Arts and the Warkworth Legion, as well as other activities.
The Sandy Flats Sugar Bush has activities running all day Saturday and Sunday as well. The Warkworth Community Service Club will be offering a Pancake Supper all day and costs $7.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children under 12. The Sugar Bush is also hosting Sleigh Rides, Taffy Tasting, Clog and Step Dancing, lots of good music and much more.

They make the BEST maple syrup I've ever had. They are the nicest folk you could ever hope to meet. I must get down and visit again soon.
