This is a video slideshow tribute to my cousin and best friend Gerard Russoniello, who passed away on March 26, 2001 at the age of 56. In Italian, Gerard would have been known as a real "personaggio." A world traveler, he spoke six languages and his easy manner, sense of humor and quick wit enabled him to make many longstanding friendships while traversing the globe. An avid reader, he had an insatiable appetite for learning and a generosity of spirit in sharing his knowledge. Gerard enriched the lives of all who knew him and his family and friends still miss him dearly. The music is from the CD "Puccini and Pasta." Written by Giacomo Puccini, the song is from Madame Butterfly and is called "Love Duet," Act 1, Part 2, (Bimba dagli orchi; Vogliatemi beni). Beautifully sung by Katia Ricciarelli and Jose Carreras, with music by the London Symphony Orchestra/Lamberto Gardelli, Madame Butterfly was Gerard's favorite opera. The photos date from around 1990 until Gerard's passing in 2001. Most of them were taken by Carol Scialli in California, Italy, and New Jersey. The photos of Gerard's memorial service in California were taken by Arnie Cicchetti on April 21, 2001.
