This Sonata is one of my favorites & is usually played without much musical meaning, phrasing, or introspection. It is such a unique piece & I rarely like the interpretations I have heard. I try to emulate Ashkenazy's definitive version when I play it, but of course, I cannot. This performance is exceptional....profound. Difficult to make this piece so poetic & beautiful. Congratulations.
I feel like I am beginning to idolize this man similarly to how my teenage contemporaries adore movie stars.
