This is the famed 1980's Century policy trailer that everyone in Northern california remembers clapping along to the fanfare music. Some call it the theater in the desert trailer or the searchlights trailer.

  • do you have the new current century theater search light opening?

  • Unfortunately no.

  • It looks GREAT!

Do you have the Century trailer with the flying ticket?

  • unfortunately no. I found this unused print in an abandoned film lab years ago. I just projected it in my living room and videotaped it off the screen. I have some other theater policy trailers that I'll post eventually.

  • @powerpuffgir1 The 25 (my alma mater, if you will) closed the Summer of '09. That September it reopened as the Retro Dome. Great place, they show retro films in the "A" side and live performances in the "B" side.

  • @CMLion I believe it was the 'dry run' of Ghostbusters 2 in 1989 at the old Town and Country theatre (which was a Manns, then a UA, then a Century - but now gone and effectively replaced with a Cinemark.) It seemed new at that screening...

  • OMG..I've been thinking about this for sometime recently and I just HAD to see if I can find it. Thank you, panaflex.

  • Sniff, sniff, reminds me of when I was a little kid going to the movies and seeing this as the lights went down.

  • @twerk421 I've never been to the UA Sunrise, but I'm always amazed it's still open. They were idiots for tearing down the Cinedome and replacing it with that cracker-box theater with all common-width screens. They didn't even care about hiring experienced people- I applied for a job there after it opened (had 10 years theater experience) and was only offered a minimum-wage slave job, my experience counted for nothing! They've been changing over to digital now anyways, and I'll have a better job.

  • My 1st trip to the theatres was ET @ UA Sunrise Mall when I was 3. But Cinedome was always my and my family's favorite. I saw Top Gun, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Batman, Speed, Alien 3, and dozens of other films there bought dozens of toys from that same vendor for years. My 1st "date" in 5th grade was a double date and we saw "My Blue Heaven" there.

My 1st act as a good samaritan was helping a woman in a wheelchair up the incline of one mezzanine.

  • @jreafsnyder Yep me to that theater was Awesome !

  • @blueknob5538 which city ?

  • My favorite Century theater was the Cinema Dome, In the city of Orange Ca
