Folbe's are by far the best salmon rod holder I have ever used. We bought our first one this year to fish the Columbia river for fall kings. We originally had Fish-ons on the last boat, then went with Scotties on the new boat, then back to Fish-on's. However, after trying a folbe this fall, there will be 4 more added for a total of 5 rod holders.... Get the optional cams for the tilt though. That was always the drawback of the Scotties.

BUT WHERE DID YOU GET THE METAL/PLASTIC WIDE CLAMP THAT IS MOUNTED TO THE GUNNEL? OTHERWISE, THIS ROD HOLDER IS USELESS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A WIDE GUNNEL? MINE IS ABOUT 4 INCHES OR SO WIDE. CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A CLAMP LIKE YOURS. HELP ME..ELEAL1@YAHOO.COM

2/11/11 Jessie, I Used the Elite rod holders while on trip to Florida. Fished lake tafford and limited out each day. The rod holders worked great and were easy to assemble and mount. I also used the boat in the gulf. Brother hooked up with about a 80 lb goliath grouper while in the rod holder and it did just great (Did twist the rod while under the load-ok afterward) I feel good about these and know they will last the life of the boat. Thanks for a great product at a reasonable price. Ray Evert

I was on the Kenai not too long ago,and I disagree

@toddpeterson74 The Rod holder is made in Washington state for Salmon and is one of the most popular rod holders on the Kenai river with guides now.
Where did you get the aluminum piece mounted to the gunnel?

@TheCoppertop2 The big gunnel clamps are custom made prototypes and most likely wont see production.

How much do they cost? Are they made out of cheap plastic, or like, metal? Or wood?.. Be honest.

@Honeebuket Hi, our products are made of good quality marine grade plastics with stainless hardware and are built to take abuse and last for many years of use! Folbe's are MADE IN USA and are fully warranted!

Cool idea- doubt they'd work for Salmon fishing, but they sure would work well for 'eyes.
