For over 4000 years, the world's greatest empires have come and gone--only China has survived the test of time. Century after century, China's regal emperors mobilized immense peasant armies to accomplish engineering feats unparalleled in human history. Among the groundbreaking innovations were the world's longest canal and a naval fleet mightier than all those of Europe combined. However, none can compare to the colossal 4,000-mile wall that stands as the most ambitious construction project ever built. From such heights came spectacular death spirals, as dynasty after dynasty, consumed by vanity and greed was stripped of power by the people it had ruled. Peter Weller hosts.

  • @Screwedup168 ur arguing wit the historian lol

  • @EricMetalGuitarist Youre referring to evolution...I guess.

  • @meldufresne Whoa there! Hold the phone. (lol) I never said mankind originated from Mesopotamia, even if they were among the first to build cities and create a sophisticated urban society. According to scientific consensus, mankind originated from Africa and branched out to the rest of the world about 60,000 to 100,000 years ago (Paleolithic era). Just want to be clear about my position, which follows consensus.

  • @EricMetalGuitarist I agree that mankind originated from mesopotamia, but I wouldn't go as far back as 9000 BC. The Chinese as a civilization (as we know it) definitely arose after the Sumerians and Egyptians. My original post was regarding your response @numso. When he said "China", I think he meant "people" living in that region not the civilization that arose later.
