Stand testing a KTM 520 engine for use in our Formula SAE car. For competition this engine will be outfitted with a MicroSquirt fuel injection system and otherwise left largely stock.

  • Running it with no pipe will make the engine run lean/rich.. You would have to run it hard and for some time before any real damage sets in.

  • What all sensors are you running with the microsquirt and is it controlling your spark as well?

  • @IceCreamSteve1 I tend to think I have a relatively firm grasp on them. Please, educate me.

  • @Maxzillian Yes it does. apparently you are not very well educated when it comes to engines.

  • Doesn't hurt the engine one bit to run it with no pipe. Anyway, we were just idling it.

  • Love it that this one is build in Austria !

  • Smart run it with no pipe
