@Esuavio do u know why they stop playing at that age? because 1. there isnt enough quality coaching 2. americans have a "win at all cost" mentality, so as kids the coaches are focusing them on winning and NOT developing, so when the filter of good vs bad players starts to come through, which is around 15-18...MANY players stop playing because theyre no longer able to compete and the sport stops being fun for them...

@kenyanintheus USA was in the semi finals of the world very first world cup in 1930 and we placed 3RD PLACE!!!

No Offence But America is Only Known for Basketball and American Football in Sports; But in Europe Soccer is the main sport, same with Brazil and Argentina.

@Esuavio Sorry, but I think James would flop. Just saying, the guy is too big and we will never know because Basketball, American football, and real football are very different. Maybe with James' height he could have been a goalkeeper.

@pupcakevadergwen exactly. and you also have to think about how good USA is at the Olympics. We totally own basically every 2 years in winter and regular olympics. we are monsters and freaks of nature!

As an American... i believe i have the authority to shed some light on this subject. Almost every single American child, boy or girl, has played soccer at the youth level. Most play other sports as well, such as American Football or Basketball. American Football and Basketball are the most popular sports in the USA. The majority of athletic kids in the USA stop playing soccer when they get to High School. If the USA had stars like LeBron James or Reggie Bush playing soccer we could compete.

excuses buddy, excuses. Was their starting line up playing? THen it doesn't matter what kind of game it was. If it was back ups maybe you would have an excuse. First string means it shouldn't matter
