It is no rumor. I live in Kingston. I go and see what is goin on each and every day. There are two coves that used to be beautiful. I spent many hours on one of the docks in the cove fishing, enjoying some music, and enjoying some solitude. There is no water in that cove. There never will be again. There is about 12 feet of sludge and mud in the middle of that cove now. It will be a field by summer.

Excellent footage. I'm surprised you were able to get so close - but maybe that's because you arrived on the scene before they started patroling the ashtray, I mean, river.
I just posted a before and after video of the disaster and the impact on residents in the area. I've received correspondence from Erin Brockovich and a writer for the huffington post is planning on linking to the video for an upcoming article. I'd love to use some of your footage in a future video.

Rumor has it that TVA is going to cover this mess with top soil and "Change the shoreline forever". The area will still be a toxic waste site. They are just moving it to other holding ponds and possibly compromising them. They have been expanding the shoreline with this stuff for many years. Speculation has been made that this may not have been an accident. That they knew it was going to happen. Our water comes from several miles downstream, but it has had a sulfur odor on occasion since 12-26.

Nice camera work...
Actually, when TVA was sold to the people of Appalachia they were told that they would get FREE electricity!
They were sold this bill of goods in exchange for the land that would be flooded to make the lakes to power the hydroelectric power plants.
But the reality is, that electricity is sold for BELOW market value to neighboring states, then burns coal to provide ABOVE market electricity to the people of TN.
We needn't look in the mirror; we need to look toward Nashville & Washington!

"Clean Coal": The biggest bold-faced lie of all. Nothing about coal is "clean", from ungodly mountain-top removal, to all of the pollutants pumped into the air, to the billions of tons of solid waste that have to go somewhere, as we have seen here.
The tough questions - are we able to reduce electricity consumption? What are we willing to sacrifice in our daily lives? Should humans be responsible for what they do?
Blame is deserved, but who should be blamed? For the answer, look in a mirror.
