STEP THREE: INSTALL iTUNES 9.2 BETA

STEP FOUR: PLACING YOUR DEVICE IN DFU MODE (read this all before following the steps)
- Connect your device to your mac and iTunes and let it sync and back up etc..
- Now hit eject the eject button in the left hand sidebar of iTunes to eject your device, BUT KEEP IT PLUGGED INTO YOUR USB PORT
- When iTunes no longer shows your device in the left sidebar, you are ready to put your device in to DFU mode
- Hold down the home and power buttons until your device's screen goes black, and keep both held for two further seconds once the screen is black
- Now let go of the power button (top of device) BUT KEEP HOLDING THE HOME BUTTON DOWN
- A message in iTunes will now pop saying that a device has been recognised in DFU MODE -- you are now ready to restore to iOS4
- Putting your device into DFU MODE is the most difficult step of this process, and if you have any difficulty with it, just search for DFU mode on youtube


STEP FIVE: RESTORING YOUR DEVICE TO iOS4

- IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU RESTORE YOUR DEVICE AND DO not UPDATE IT HERE
- When you ok the message telling you that your device is in DFU mode, you will be shown a screen with options for update and restore
- Hold down the ALT key, and CLICK on restore
- From the menu presented, select the iOS4 IPSW you downloaded for your specific device
- Let iTunes restore your device to iOS4
- Once restored, you can select to set up your device from a previous back up to return your data to your device

hey mate, i have a ipod touch 2g MB, i jailbraked it correctly ,and i have my own wallpaper and everything, but when i do the multi tasking, it only lets me choose between music,video and settings, any ideas?

@Gsaralli Hmmm... that is quite odd, I must admit that I have never head of that happening before!

Are you definitely running more than those apps prior to accessing the multitasking menu?

If you are running more apps than those shown, and you are unable to resolve the issue, I'm afraid to tell you that you'll have to put your device into DFU mode and restore it to iOS4 GM again and follow the jailbreak process!

Am trying to update my Iphone 3g from 3.1.2 to 4.0, whenver I try to restore, iTunes keeps trying to verify with apple and I end up having error 3194. Am using the same PC windows and iTunes is up todate

I tried this excersize more than once, yet I am getting the same results.
