hCG, Pregnyl and Novarel contain human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). HCG is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the placenta. It is indicated for the induction of ovulation and pregnancy in the anovulatory, infertile women in whom the cause of anovulation is secondary and not due to primary ovarian failure.

HCG is administered as an injection intramuscularly or subcutaneously depending on the physicians instructions. HCG is virtually identical to that of pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH). During the normal menstrual cycle, LH participates with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in the development and maturation of the normal ovarian follicle, and the mid-cycle LH surge triggers ovulation. During an assisted reproductive cycle (ART), hCG is used to induce egg maturation and trigger ovulation (the release of an egg(s) from the ovary) in women who have been treated with ovulation inducing medications.

  • what would like to know is how many iu's are in 1ml, my pins are only marked in ml's

  • @TheMegaRoflcopter The vials of hCG (Pregnyl, Novarel and generic hCG) come in vials of 10,000 of powdered medication. If you mix that vial with 1.0ml of diluent, then there are 10,000IU in 1.0ml. If you mix the powdered medication with more than 1.0ml of diluent, then you change the concentration that will be in 1.0ml. Most of the time when using hCG for an IVF or IUI cycle, hCG is mixed with 1.0ml of diluent. Hope this helps!

  • @systemrootexploited thanks so much forthe feedback. Appreciate the tip too. Im still awaiting this drug hopefully in 1 mth i will have finally started

  • @dthurling As long as it hasn't been mixed it is good till the expiration date. If it is ALREADY mixed then it can last up to 30 days IF refrigerated.

  • @msbutterflybaybee You don't stick it ENTIRELY in....but at least 3/4ths in....also freezing the needles helps take the pain away. Just a f.y.i. Hope you learned how to inject them correctly so any further pain will be avoided.

  • Omg the needles look soo big im dreading this.
