This track was originally intended for Solace.

It was impossible to find lyrics on this song, so I did the best I could, correct me if I'm wrong.

Lyrics-
Searching through the wreckage, brings me to my knees
I can sense the madness, it lingers on the breeze
Rests upon my shoulder and glides along my spine
Resurrecting all my fears by deceiving whats mine
And what is really mine and whats only a matter of time

In the moments of clearness, sometimes I can understand
(subtlety is washed away by the tears of time)
The feeling of your calmness, oh I need it so
(the sea corrodes the flesh to bone)
But in the moments of madness, theres no one here by my side
(the pain is waiting for so long in vain)
Theres nothing I can say that will change things now
(sacrificed the heart, was turned to stone)

I took it as a message, I see it clearly now
Desolation everywhere; all my thoughts allow
Seeps into my conscience, sadly unrefined
Resurrecting all my fears by deceiving what is mine
And what is really mine and whats only a matter of time

In the moments of clearness, sometimes I can understand
(subtlety is washed away by the tears of time)
The feeling of your calmness oh I need it so
(the sea corrodes the flesh to bone)
But in the moments of madness, theres no one here by my side
(the pain is waiting for so long in vain)
Theres nothing I can say that will change things now
(sacrificed the heart, was turned to stone)

  • how old was she here? she doesn't sound like her voice is matured or something..

  • @razrv3lc she was in her early 20's, about 22

  • thanks for uploading these rare songs... what is she saying at the end of the song.. any clue? Different language or?

  • your welcome.

And I have absolutely no idea what she is saying at the end of the song. It's really hard to find any info on this song.

  • The only thing I don't understand is, if they had all these interesting demos, why did the first Rarities album have so many remixes of already released material?

  • I know, it's weird that these songs didn't appear on any recorded cd, record, etc. . .they are quite good. Even "What Lies Beyond" was on a compliation cd by Nettwerk.

  • I agree, I really like these songs. I think "Madness" is my favourite of them.

I wish she had explored this direction a little more. I don't find the stuff she's done since Surfacing to be nearly as interesting as her earlier work.

No, it's all Sarah. It's somewhere between Touch and Solace. She had a distinct voice in that time period before she changed her style a little starting with Solace, singing more in her lower range.

  • where can i find this song to download it's so beautiful

  • @asocialcat By the way... I'm not really sure of anything here, and I come in peace. <3 I so think this song is beautiful and am glad that you posted it.

  • When I first heard this, I sensed something was off. I think, personally, that the lead singer is Jewel. It really sounds like her style. However, I think that the backup singer might be Sarah. I wonder if this is an unreleased duet that they did... just a theory. Not sure when it would have been done (probably not Solace era). Not to doubt the reputability of your sources because most of the other songs you have sound like Sarah McLachlan... (I wish this HAD been released, whatever it was.)

  • I actually have a Live version of "Steaming" .. its eiither bar or venue where she may have opened for someone.. anyone wanna trade?
