This raga was composed by the great Agra gharana maestro, Pandit Jagganathbuwa Purohit, also known by his pen-name, `Gunidas'. It is fuses the raga Jog with the prakar or generic raga called Kaushi (Kanhra); so you find both the gandhars, the hallmark of Jog, and the use of pancham (which is conspicuously absent in Malkauns). The raga was first sung on a public platform in 1952 by Pandit Kumar Gandharva and it became popular; Pt Jitendra Abhisheki often sang it very brilliantly
