:( my 5 month old Brazilian Rainbow just died of IBD last night.

thats unfortunate, however IBD is known to only effect boids, not colubrids. im not doubting you because it does look like IBD, i think you should inform others that ibd can effect colubrids

@mainIevent You wrote a reply saying 'It's not IBD, your snake will be fine' AFTER the description was updated with the fact that he died. I would call that kind of insensitivity completely worthy of hate.

@OirokenoJutsu I wasn't heckling, yet I got a reply full of wearing and hate. So whatever mate.

@ThaSk8tachik I have a boa who's almost a year old, and I've not seen a single symptom from her, despite using the same enclosure (I was advised not to, but really don't have the money to do otherwise). What we did was soaked everything that we were keeping (whether used in the new enclosure or not) in a 1:4 bleach / water mixture for a few hours, and soaked the inside of the cage the same way. Then we scrubbed them, rinsed all of them about three time over, and let them dry completely.

I have a question...do u have other boas or pythons? If so how would you clean and keep them from getting it? I had a ball and she died of ibd it broke my heart. I would like another but am scared it will also get sick. What shall I do?
Have you considered the possibility that your snake could be a stargazer? Stargazers show the same neurological symptoms as IBD victims, but it is passed down genetically, similar to the spider ball's wobble, and is NOT contagious. I would still be cautious. It is believed that IBD is passed through body secretions and is not airborne. Unfortunately this means it can be passed by snake mites. Also, alcohol is known to kill it on surfaces the infected snake has touched. I hope this helps.

@Illuminaera17 I'd have liked it if you read the description before posting this, as I well know about stargazing and also know that it's not contagious or fatal, meaning that it cannot be what my snake had considering the fact that he died. Reading through the entire description would have told that and made this comment unnecessary. Thanks for trying to help, but this only opened old wounds.

ok that sounds like a good idea but i still have a few questions if thats ok..there isnt much info out in ibd so im just curious what i should do. i heard that the anywhere the snake has touched is infected is this true? if so what should i do about that? i cant possible disinfect almost my whole house. also i heard that ibd will die within two weeks without a host is this true? i also have heard six months plz let me know i am very passionate about my animals and wish yours the best plz respond

@ThaSk8tachik It's very likely that everywhere it touched has a possibility of infection, yeah, same way that anything you touch when you have a cold has germs on it. The parasite itself shouldn't live past a month, at the absolute most, so it would be safest to bring a snake in after four weeks or more.
