A brief tour of Djanbung Gardens Permaculture Education Centre in Nimbin, NSW Australia. Executive Director Robyn Francis, walks us through this beautiful land which she transformed through permaculture design, working with nature - rather than against it, from a barren cow pasture into a mix of tropical food forest, cold-temperate orchard, vegetable gardens, chook yard, and more. Visit permaculture.com.au for more information about this amazing place.

  • The ducks in the orchard were brought in. Those in the pond are wild. Talk to user/robynfrancisearth to get more info as the place is Robyn's!

    Cheers!

  • is there not the risk that certain botanical species might become a pest like rabbits and cats (or is it camels) in australia?

  • @SXMSXMSXM

The cat is already out of the bag, so to speak. White man has been on the continent for centuries. We travel all over the world and ship goods all over the world. Debate on this subject is good, however in my opinion, there are majorly invasive species which aren't even questioned such as corn, soy, anything GM, humans, etc. What can we do? There is no going back to the way things were.

  • C'mon now ! , where is ya dope plants ? , you can't be living in Nimbin with that much land and no weed ! , the whole town is weed/dope central !. heheh , cheers.

  • You aren't helping anyone. Cannabis should be just like dandelion, growing everywhere freely like a weed and ignored by most, while used medicinally by those who use it with respect.

There's more to Nimbin, I assure you.

I don't know if this is a silly questions, but did some of the the animals (such as the ducks) come themselves or did you bring them in?

By the way thanks for uploading!

  • genius, very nice presentation

    priceless work you are doing

    cheers

Nature may have a different opinion on this subject of going back to the way things were if we don't start living in harmony with the earth!

  • excellent...

  • Fantastic!!! What a wonderful way to spend the last 16 years. Invaluable - food, knowledge & generational support. If every backyard had something organic to eat the children would be more healthy & smiley!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @dontpanicjack By the way , nice gardens ;).
