Iceland can never survive as an independent state, which is why they are now coming on their knees begging the EU to let them in. They should have stayed the Danish province they used to be; 300.000 sheep-farmers and fishermen forming an independent nation is just ridiculous.

@staleerik i just started the book and i think it is about much more than that, he has a much deeper analysis. i think it was just a simple point for him to make against people who say that because iceland is economically troubled at the moment they must be unhappy.

I am from Iceland and I couldn't be more happier, I have a girlfirned, I don't have a mortgage, I don't own a car.
I drink alot and I dance alot. My grandfather had to eat horse shit just to stay alive when he was young. He lived to be 99 years old(no joke)
So me eating overprised rice and onion is no biggie.
I will start eating sheeps testicles like they did here 50 years ago if it will keep me alive.
