fish eye test
jelly lens
for the money it is ok, this only cost me £1.99, but having only paid that you know it isnt going to be brilliant.
it does create the fish eye effect well, although only the middle of the image is in focus, the outer edge on the image is distorted quite heavily
i would buy this if i didnt have much money or had a mobile phone camera that wasnt very good quality because then it doesnt need to be perfect
also the jelly part that is supposed to stick it to the camera isnt very good and tends to fail
180 degree fish eye lens
a very good lens, used to be quite expensive but has come done in price considerably, i got mine shipped from hong kong to cape town for £10.69 including postage, whereas a few months ago you would be looking to pay between £20-30 with out postage
this is my prefered lens, it creates the fish eye effect perfectly and does minimal to no distortion at all in the image
and unlike the the jelly lens, this uses a magnet system to lock itself onto the camera which is very effective as they use very strong magnets, even when shaken it doesnt fall off, something the other lens cant match
also theres the build quality difference, youll notice if you buy one yourself that the lens is made up from an aluminium case and a glass lens which is where the improved quality comes from
which one ill be using:
im going to use the 180 degree glass lens fisheye for its superb quality and reliability to stay on the cam, however i would suggest the other lens for kids as it can take a beating and still provide the same quality image whereas with glass you obviously have to be more careful
The new, duck friendly fish eye.
