Landon Donovan IS the best American soccer player.
If Landon was playing with Mexico he'd have WAY more Goals in by now and plenty more championships.
Clint is a pretty good player but Landon is Pro.

and HAHA your 'clearer view' when your an american who knows nothing about football. Trust me you just have a biased view for those american players, in Europe they are nothing. Fact.

@deepshizzle1 Except, bringing on Donovan is what defeated Man. City and Chelsea. And Dempsey is almost the sole reason Fulham aren't a bottom-dweller. But that's ok, you have your eurocentric point-of-view, and I have my clearer one.

@deepshizzle1 Are they the 'greatest' players? Absolutely not. But their work ethic more than makes up for it.
We have one player who shows moments of brilliance, but his drive isn't there, at least not right now. If Jozy Altidore can match the work ethic of Clint Dempsey, he can also become 'great', since he still has the great fortune of being young.

@deepshizzle1 See, now you are confusing the issue. One doesn't have to be better than Ryan Giggs to be 'great'. Ryan Giggs wasn't simply 'great', he was among the 'greatest'.
Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan are both 'great' players. You cannot say they are average even in Europe, when Landon Donovan was the best player at Everton during his stints there, and Clint Dempsey has been the best player for Fulham for quite a while now. Both would be good enough to play for any team in the EPL.
