The good bass players who use picks could probably destroy most people when it comes to finger plucking.

I'm a finger-style bassist, but TOOL sounds better with a pick hands down. End of story.

God, why do so many people on YouTube who probably aren't even musicians themselves get their panties in a wad about a bassist using a pick? Use one or don't, it's the call of the musician. I'll play it with my ass if I want to. No one is impressed with your super musical knowledge that tells you OMG playing with fingers is more common.
Just like a kid who's been playing guitar for a month going around trying to have conversations about what pick size to use. It's not that important. Just play.
