Hap Gar is a very interesting style to me and forgive me for my ignorance, but is this the same hop gar as as the Chinese Kung Fu system because I don't see any hands from the hop gar system being displayed.

@kajuhop Capoeira is the correct spelling. :-)

To wilb6657, there is a Kajukenbo teacher in Vancouver as well as Ottawa (Watanabe tradition), though it is more easier to find in Montreal. For further information simply write to Philip Gelinas or search the web. I have found alot more Kajukenbo schools in Canada than I originally thought....but beware of Kajukenbo styles that have been washed out too thoroughly and have actually transformed into something else....

Aloha
I recognize all your katas as the KAIDO Kajukenbo numeral katas 1-4 and some of 5.
Unfortunately, the Kaido Katas I cannot find on video anywhere. I have learned the numeral Katas 1-10 (so far) and also the Dragon Dance, Breathing Kata, Horse Stance Kata and Fayep (<-might not be proper spelling or pronounciation)
Thank you for sharing your videos. Especially the Kaido video. THESE KATAS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND!!!
Thanks again bro...(Ohana!!!)

Cool, man. Thanks!
This is all so cool. I really, REALLY want to learn Kajukembo-there are no places that teach it where I live, though. :(

Yeah, such is life...you don't have any mma or capwera schools nearby? I have to bloody move to Montreal to get a black belt in Kaj8u...who the heck would want to move to Montreal from Vancouver!!?:)

Yeah-there is an MMMA-actually, TWO MMA gyms here in my town. Plus, there's a nationally acclaimed Judo/Jujitsu school nearby. So I guess I have options. Would you say that training in MMA helps in learning Kajukembo? What are some basic tenets or philosophies of Kajukembo training.

lol, it's all in the history of the name...KA-Karate, JU-Japanese Ju Jitsu, KEN-Kenpo/Chinese Chuan Fa, Bo-Chinese & Western Boxing.

The main tenet is over kill keep striking in a self defense situation...it's a method of self defense...any fighting forms add to the concepts, like in the 60's kaju guys would fight in karate tournaments, now they fight in mma...it's basically some good self defense tricks to use in old age...you're best to learn to fight at an mma gym while training kajukenbo...I wish ufc was big when I got into it. shrugs:)
