  • @soffitdaddy Put a GE Model F110 in that sucker. 27000 lbs of thrust on full afterburner, putting out the equivalent of 2500HP. Build the boat around the engine, put the driver in front, and the vectoring cone would take care of steering. Only problem: keeping the boat on the water. A good compromise would be a J85 turbojet or two. Thing would haul ass.

  • PS Turbines routinely make 100% rated power for thousands of hours with nothing more than oil/filter changes. In contrast, Top Fuel dragsters run 5 seconds between overhauls. For sheer acceleration, jet cars are handicapped by the NHRA so as to not embarrass piston cars. NASCAR,one race. The same for other similar racing. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, horsepower for horsepower, there is no comparison when it comes to high performance. Why do you think it's called the Jet Set?
  • World's Fastest Car:Thrust SSC;Jet (Turbine) powered,thrust propelled.

    World's Fastes Shaft-driven car:Turbinator-Turbine powered,

    World's Fastest Plane:Blackbird SR-71-Jet(Turbine)powered.

    World's Largest&Most Powerful Helicopters:all Turbines.

    World's Most Powerful Ships:Nuclear powered,Steam-Turbine driven.

    World's Fastest Boat:Spirit of Austraila:Jet (Turbine) powered.

    HMMM:

What word is in every one of these categories?

There are Turbines that weigh 800 lbs. and make 8000HP....

  • The damn thing sounds like a King Air taxiing down the runway!

  • No quick power with a turbine. They take a while to spool up.

  • @soffitdaddy not to mean but thats a common misconception on the water a big blocks power to weight ratio isnt to good a small block is a cheaper more effective solution

  • great haul .. not turbine !

  • @captmpk71 This shows how much you know about turbines. Certain sections of the turbine turn up to 28,000 RPM. The output shaft turns up to about 6,000 RPM on certain engines. Then It will be gerard down again for the specified prop. The turbine is also lighter than a 502.

  • thats crasy, that little engine could hardly move that boat, you need to put a bigblock on that and then she,ll move. cool thought wrong application

  • don't look like that boat runs dry to good.they are shaking the rudders way to much to keep it moving on the hill
