Emily McHugh, soprano; Alex Zalman Kelber, piano; in recital May 20, 2009, Lutkin Hall, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL; Douglas Asbury, videographer and producer.
Synopsis (adapted from aria-database.com): Ruggiero has been captured by Alcina and bespelled by Alcina to be in love with her and to think that his real enemy is actually his fiancee Bradamante. Bradamente, in disguise, tries to show him his mistake, but Ruggiero only runs off. Alcina then enters and declares in this aria that she will keep Ruggiero under her power.

Tornami a vagheggiar,
te solo vuol' amar
quest' anima fedel,
caro, mio bene, caro!

Già ti donai il mio cor:
fido sarà il mio amor;
mai ti sarò crudel,
cara mia spene.

Return to me to languish,
Only you it wants to love
this faithful heart,
My dear, my good one, my dear!

Already I gave you my heart:
I trust you will be my love;
but you will be too cruel,
my dear hope.
