She was part of the "Native Tongues" crew which also consisted of De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Tribe Called Quest, and the Jungle Bros. Monie released 2 albums "Down to Earth" and "In a Word or 2." She was nominated for 2 Grammy's one for "Monie in the Middle" and one for "It's A Shame." She hosted MTV's Lip Service and appeared in 2 movies "Strapped" (HBO) and "Who's the Man."
