In ancient China, "desire houses" were constructed to contain items that would accompany the spirits of the deceased into the afterlife in a ritual burning. In celebration of the themes of home, place and being connected to A Chinese Home, a desire house exhibition created by students was on display the week of the performance and, in a choreographed processional preceding the performance on February 12, participants carried one desire house up the Grand Pavilion and burned it in the outdoor courtyard at the rear of the building.
