Li did indeed win chinas first grand slam singles...first Grand slam in doubles was won in 2006 by Yan Zi and Zheng Jie..in 2006 in australia!

@HenryDavidT She didn't mean "I wish" sarcastically, she meant it at face value. It's like if a Asian person says to you: "You know very well", they are usually admiring your knowledge of a place or thing. Whereas if an English-speaker says that, they are usually being sarcastic.

she does not look tall when she is on the tennis court becos the other female players are taller. she is 1.72 meters tall which is tall for a chinese woman.

@HenryDavidT She means "I hope". Many chinese who speak English as a second language can't quite grasp the subtle difference between hope and wish because most English to Chinese dictionaries define them both as "I desire". I know because I speak Chinese too
