The University of Oregon and the surrounding area experienced heavy snowfall the weekend of Dec. 6 as temperatures reached the negatives for the first time in at least 40 years.

A snowball fight organized by student athletes began next to the Student Recreation Center at approximately 12:40 p.m.(http://emrld.co/Ix3wO1). For the first time in a long time, the UO cancelled afternoon classes, which allowed more students to participate. It wasn't until later that a small group of students began pelting cars on University Street with snowballs as they passed.

This video was captured as a UO staffer and retired professor were stopped at different points on University Street by students' snowballs. When a retired art history professor opens his car to talk to the crowd, he immediately gets a bucket-full of snow to the head, which causes him to find someone in the crowd to reason with. Toward the end of the video, two students can be seen talking to the retired professor, apologizing for the crowd behavior.

Both staffers have told The Emerald that they will not pursue charges, although Pharaoh Brown, the student who dumped snow on the retired art professor, will not play in the Alamo Bowl and the university is investigating the matter as some rules of the student code of conduct may have been breached.
