The more you advance through the video, the funnier it gets, since the bottom of the screen get's overwhelmed with bored developers! I'm pretty sure they would rather stick to the computer all day working on Sketchup than talk about the improvements in Sketchup. But I guess letting these people do whatever they want in front of the camera is Google's way of telling the audience that these people are the real developers! LOL

whenever i try to use the components searcher or 3d wharehouse it tells me to check my internet conncection but when i do my connection is fine.

Really just an annoyance my problem;
The little bar at the bottom that tells you the length of the line etc. is gone. How do I get it back?

It's called the measurement box, you can find it by going to the 'View' menu, look in toolbars to bring it back.

The door is a dynamic component with some simple animation attributes assigned to it. Look in the 3D Warehouse and you should be able to find components like this.
