We Are One In The Spirit - sung by Jack Marti

This song was sort of an anthem among the Jesus People in the '60s and '70s, but I always had a problem with one of the verses which said "we will guard each man's dignity and save each man's pride." I didn't like the song for that reason, because I didn't believe that's what Jesus called us to do. Then one day I heard someone sing the same song with the words to that verse changed to say "we will give up all our dignity and crucify our pride." That rang true to me, so I added the song with the changed lyric to my repertoire. Hope this doesn't offend anyone too badly!

@RachelEMacD Well, the chords are pretty straight forward. I actually got the chords from my sister who doesn't really play guitar way back in the 70s. All I do is bring out the melody as I play, and of course, added Love @ the end.

I think you did a great job. I don't mind your lyric change but the original one I find just find as well. I think Jesus did call us to protect our brothers and correct them/guide them through love and not embarass them. I think that's the message. Man does have dignity and pride and that does not have to be a bad thinkg. When people are down, for whatever reason, we need to bring them up with dignity. please don't get me wrong, I'm not offended, and I your change works just fine.
