@SlipFighter Yeah but it was not running at the time and they did not try starting it with an engine full of water. Diesels are arguably worse than petrol engines when it comes to getting water in them. Old diesel engines had less electrical issues with water (than petrol) and are hence considered better in wet environments but if you suck water in, you are in big trouble because the compression is higher. Not that any engine likes water, its a roll of the dice.

@SlipFighter On Top Gear They took the glow plugs out and cranked it over after the took it out of the water so it didn't hydraulic the engine.
