Cryin' Heart began in 1991 as a collaboration between Harvey Brindell and Jack Carlson who were working in a Psych hospital together. Jack brought his brother Buddy along to play drums. Harvey knew Honeyboy Turner from a brief stint Harvey did as the guitar player for the Wesleyan Jazz band where Honeyboy was playing Trombone. Harvey ran into Honeyboy at a local record store where Honeyboy was working and invited him to sit in on harmonica with Jack and Buddy. Thus Cryin' Heart was born. That was almost two decades ago. Jack and Buddy have since essentially retired from the music business but Harvey and Honeyboy continue to play together in their current outfit The Blues Orchestra featuring Honeyboy Turner.
