The King Has Come at AHA Nights!!

The New Bedford Core brings together some of the areas most fearless artists: avant garde saxophonist Rick Britto, improvisational guitarist Jim Robitaille, high chop percussionist Danny Schwartz, monster bassist Rob Massoud and hypnotic groove master drummer Chris Poudrier. The set featured songs from Xaviers latest CD of Happy Note Records, The XMan Cometh, Expect the Unexpected.

PUNK POP LIVES WITH THE KING HAS COME
Hailed as Downbeat Editors Choice, Charles Xavier Brings Back Quirky Dance Tunes

Happy Note Records announces today the reissue of The King Has Come, from San Francisco-Bay Area artist Charles Xavier and his band, the Messengers. The album cover parodies Republican politics by featuring a smiling Ronald Reagan, wearing a crown and surrounded by missiles. The King Has Come earned Downbeat Magazines Editors Choice review in 1982. This is Xaviers debut album. His second album The X-Man Cometh, Expect the Unexpected, was released in October 2006.

THIS EP SHOULD BE A TREAT FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING OFF THE MORAL MAJORITY BEATEN PATH

If there could be a new 80s release, this is as close as it gets! Punk pop lives in this reissue of The King Has Come by Charles Xavier and the Messengers. With influences from The Police, The Pretenders, The B-52s, Kraftwerk and Devo, this four cut EP gets you rockn with fun tunes that get you out on the dance floor. Check out the light satire and tongue-in-cheek humor on the album cover (pasted below): a smiling Ronald Reagan wearing a kings crown surrounded by missiles. Dont miss this good-hearted set with heavy guitars and screamn saxophones. Downbeat Magazine gave it an Editors Choice review in 1982.

Last year, Xaviers CD The X-Man Cometh, Expect the Unexpected was issued and this September 18th, their label, Happy Note Records, is re-issuing Xaviers 80s era political satire and dance ditties on The King Has Come. All songs can be heard on Happy Note Records web site (http://www.happynoterecords.com), the labels web site or purchased on www.itunes.com

Now based in San Francisco, Charles Xavier has played past gigs on the East Coast at Harpos Jazz Club (Newport, RI), The Living Room (Providence. RI), Holy Mackeral (Portland, Maine), Davids (Amherst, Ma), Poohs Pub, Club Zircon, Michaels Pub, Ahmeds, Stone Soup Gallery (Boston ,Ma). While based in Los Angeles during the 1980 & 90s Xavier performed as a leader or as a sideman at the jazz clubs Carmellos, Soundroom, Snookys, Two Dollar Bills, Comeback Inn, etc. and rock clubs such as Club 88, Blackies, Anti Club, Madame Wongs Club Lingerie, Cathey DeGrande, Central and other venues.
