From the closing seconds of their May 25, 1978 game at Boston, game 6 of the series with the Canadiens up by a score of 4-1 on two goals by Mario Tremblay plus others by Steve Shutt and Rejean Houle. This is shot from a little TV but the audio and picture aren't all that grainy. Dan Kelly calls it, with Dick Irvin and Chico Resch in the booth too as the celebration is on.

  • It's a bit weird with the Queen song on top of this footage... that song didn't exist back then.

  • 1978? Yes it did. Look it up.

  • I love the Habs, but I wouldn't sit in front of 26 inch tv with a video camera and then post in on you tube...embarrasing

  • Well until someone posts the same thing but in better quality, I'm not taking it down so deal with it Mr. "I'm a Big Fan But You're a Loser to Even Bother with This." I still think your tribute video is awesome, but don't be such a dick.

  • TOO MANY MEN ON THE ICE! You guys stole this one and it should'nt count.

  • I suggest you do some history learning. This was the 1978 finals, a series won in 6 by Montreal. The previous year they had swept Boston for the cup. The year after, 1979, was a semi-final series and the winner would play the underdog Rangers. That's when all the too many men thing occurred. It was a legit penalty too, I don't see how it shouldn't count. It counts because Boston's bench was dumb enough to let it happen.

  • @graciemaemarie11 Thanks for reminding me but I corrected my own mistake a year ago.

  • @mandolinroad yes it did

  • @jocolope I admitted to my little mistake about a year ago but... thanks for the reminder.

  • @fatdogtavern, how about the results of Jacues Demers call on Marty McSorely, illegal stick in 93? That was a good one. I think it almost made Gretz retire after that final.

  • @mandolinroad yes the song was new(77 Queen News of the World album)and cbc first played it for Mtl the champs in 78

  • @mandolinroad Yes it did. The song was first aired on the radio stations in North America in February 1978.

  • The Habs also upset the Bruins in 1971.

  • @ULTRAPOWER1977Habs Blowouts against shit teams in the regular season don't mean a thing. It could just mean that one coach let his first liners play and run up the score and pad their stats while another would smartly play their 3rd and 4th lines more on the power play and not risk injury to their stars. Bowman was an asshole enough to pad stats while Al Arbour would even out ice time knowing that the game was in control. Even many Habs themselves admit they got away with a cup win in 1979.
