Ironically, to me, the best version of this song, outdoing even Richard Kiley, is the "throwaway" reprise done here by the boys chorus, as it oddly and singularly captures the most beautiful notes of the song on the lines "like a prayer an angel whispers" and "the world shall know thy glory," which truly make the song a masterpiece. Too bad about the dub here, which cuts into the song.

I believe his "insanity" is the only thing keeping him happy and grounded in a world where the establishment i.e. the Inquisition tries to dominate the human spirit into its accepted perception of complicity and obedience. He is the sanest of them all; he is is own lifeline. And his heart is full of the purity and clarity of love...

@kitster900 According to the (expanded) description it is not O'Toole singing. It is Simon Gilbert. I agree it sounds like I imagine O'Toole would sing.

@kitster900 None of the actors in this version are known for their singing, but they are all great actors, which is why, in my opinion, this is the definitve version.
don quixote was widely known to be insane but actually he was not , he is just extremely idealistic about truth , honour and chivarly
