but let's not nit-pick. the eco-war of the mid 1990's undoubtedly kickstarted the modern environmental movement, taking the rhetoric of Rio out onto the streets, helping to revolutionize society's attitude towards the planet on a fundamental grassroots level, and in all posibility, giving you, landyloony, the wherewithal to get on your high horse today...

yeah, i think that you're right in terms of that individual event. This was an urban protest against a road scheme through Pollock, Glasgow. the locals chose to express their anger towards encroachment from the car culture by building a 'carhenge'. a few individuals chose to torch it on the day...
