Coined 'The Badlands' by local skate eccentric Brian Markey when in 2007 he decided to get back on that proverbial skate horse after many years off. In search of something new 'n refreshing he came across an abandoned lot on the North side of Minneapolis' warehouse district and not far off from the Mississippi river. Over the next few years the Badlands has become a lively and synergetic DIY work in progress involving many skaters and friends from the Twin Cities and beyond.
Featuring in order of appearance: Jason Moore, Matt Suminski, Corey Hanssen, Brian Markey, Corey DeGuia, Wild Bill, John Mickman, Alex Uncapher, Dan "Hendo" Hendrickson, Ricky Nunn, Tom Rohrer, Tyler Dunn, Ryan Safranski, Chris Whitaker, Allen Kendall, David Jaimes, Arron Schiller, Kirian Stone, Bobby Stenberg, Tyler Peabody, Dan Jackson, Ryan Yost, Tabari Cook, Gregg Clover, Nick Dahm, Wiley, Eddie Kochendorfer, Arron Christensen, John Stenberg, Ray Maday and George Akande.
Filmed and edited by Corey Hanssen.

  • yo what happen to it?? when i drove by i saw trespassing signs every where, all the shit was gone, and the coping was ripped off the box!

  • @mitch8210 I think the bank finally foreclosed on this land and they're getting it cleaned up for potential buyers. I heard from friends that they came and took all the wood obstacles away, and my friend most likely took the angle iron off the box since it was his to begin with. Yeah I think this is the end for the Badlands, time to look for a new place to skate...

  • i was looking for this place all over yesterday and couldnt find it :/

  • @rezyrk if you look at the earlier comments I posted it's location...

  • I found it today, Things are looking a little rugged after the winter. I'd be interested in helping restore things, and possibly building new features? Let me know if you're looking for help.

  • @bradyevenson Yeah, we definitely could use the help! Today I finally got down there for the first time this year and looks as if dudes are still going there to skate. Basically, it would be cool if we could just keep the trash down a bit so if and when you're down there cleaning up some would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just making sure people take their garbage with them when they leave. It would ensure that even though we don't own this spot at lest we can continue to use it.

  • if rob dyrdek saw skaters going through this just to have a fun place to skate in minnesota im sure he could help us out lol. he has a ton of other places.. someone should try an get ahold of him

  • Id do anything for a spot like that!

  • Soulskater makes a really good point. that land is basically shit (in the eyes of a business) its on the north sides industrial area (pretty run down area) there's no building of any sort, so any potential buyer would be building from scratch. blah... no way in hell that sells. search online for foreclosed housing. i see one right now in the same area for $500 and its a house. that land couldn't cost that much to buy. well if it does sell... thanks for the spots guy. lot of good memories there.

  • Omg... skate spots are sooo sick. Have to skate there.....

  • Aww man for real? How much would it cost to buy the land?

  • I just went there yesterday its like right by the pizza place when you get off the bridge going north turn right towards the pizza place and keep going till you see a warehouse and behind the warehouse

  • " safety meeting"
