@DrHolly - or should I say, Dr Holier-than-thou - these students are mostly beginners, and most are in it for the academic credit. I do my best to impart my own love and respect of the culture - if 5% of them go on to then study with African teachers, then I consider it a success.

As for your assessment of my level of skill, do you honestly expect a beginner class to showcase the teacher's talents? Let's see you put together an ensemble performance with beginners in 24 hours of class time.

Well DrHoly, She appears to be teaching the more simple Techniques to her students who may just perhaps just be learning how to play the drums. Duh.
