4. Public Forum A. Karen Burton - Regarding history of the repair/maintenance of the Community Center/Rec Center: 1. Who did the specifications, the plans, and the estimated cost? Doug Morgan answered that the City Building Inspector, Jim Pope did; Pope was appointed by the City Council to function as a construction manager. Jim Pope is not an engineer though he "went to school in engineering" and he has been "working for contractors, architects, and engineers for over thirty (30) years". 2. How did the price of the work (siding and roof) go from $50,000, reported "last Fall", to between $100,000 and $150,000? Lafaurie opined that it was a "rough guess", though he didn't think the estimate was $50,000. Kauffman said "the . . . answer is 'I don't know' ".
