While Final Fantasy XIII is scoring big in japan as we speak...rumors are already out and reviews are already in; While it scores pretty damn good reviews the rest are much of the same bad ones...its too linear, towns are far and between or no towns at all, and while the game looks beautiful there's a wash, rince, repeat method to this game. Listening to the7thlevi i have to agree with him and reading the kotaku, wikipedia, and amazon.com/jp the results are all the same...will this linear approach for the 360 become the same for the PS3 or do Square-Enix of Japan thinks we are just one sided westerners just wanting the action and less exploration?

  • I actually liked the game the linearity didn't bother me. It was a welcome change from XII which I also liked. I just wish fanboys would stop whinning about FF7 being the best game, I mean really you can nag all you want there will be no remake just go play FF7 and leave the people that like FFXIII alone. There's no point at pointedly bashing a game cause you don't like it.

  • @hayabusahime, in my defense, i'm not bashing the game completely...the game was okay not great, not good but okay. it had its great points that I loved and it had its low points that i ididn't like mostly all games do. I don't know about FFVII being the best game but its a game with great story line and that's what got me hooked...but then again so did Kingdom hearts...so again i'm not bashing XIII entirely. lol

  • FINAL FANTASY 13 IS GAY AND SUCKS

  • @masterdelrap, LMAO i would probably agree with you...in some areas it was a bold move for them but they really should have listened or talked to the fans on what they wanted. While i didn't like the premise to it...there were some action/adventure moments that I did like. but the overall game...was alright not bad, not good but alright. I want to see what Versus XIII have in store..I will be doing a discussion about it soon.

  • for people that don't know RPG stands for ROLE PLAYING GAME .which means you play the role of a character in the game not play going in to towns all the got damn time. you are to play what the characters in the game experience if there not ment to go in to a town they won't have any fucking towns you fucking shi bricks.

  • @mervo64, Also when not being overwhemed by all the action sometimes people needs to go to these "Towns" And "Villages" to at least escape and get important developments (Ex. The Tales Series). maybe its not a big deal for you if you do, but according to research it does. IN some games perhaps it doesn't mean as much which is true...but most all RPG games dating back till well FF X and XII they are significant to the story in some way!!

  • If you look vivi he's kinda the one who doesn't hit hard but casts great magick. Zidane is thief and his fighting style is more like a thief. In FF 13 everything is just a big mess. The graphics doesn't have any artistic direction it's just made to look very hi res. And all the characters can cast magick and the reason why they can cast magick is pretty much just because some unexplained thing made them use magick FF 13 is just a big mess I'm telling you. Theres no logic in ff 13.

  • Gosh I just hate when they start to add some weird shit into games only to create something new. If you look like for example ff 7 and ff9. They both are very different but still very terrific in their own way. Were they terrific because their battle system? NO. They were great because of the story and the characters and especially how everything was linked and to made look good with the graphical style choice. When you were in a battle in ff9, everything the characters did made perfect sense.

  • Realistically, fugitives can disappear into towns and crowds with little to no notice it wasn't until the calvary came in when they identified Lightning and Hope on the display. Sahz and Vanille crept into Nautilis unnoticed until dajh lead nabaat to them your point is moot. Linearity can also confine and stifle character development as in none of the FFXIII cast aside from Sazh and Snow had any true motivation the rest were just strung along and basically entwined with each other

  • @egervari Then why was there apparently soo much cut from the game when it was decided to be a multiplat then?? The disc format for one the PS3 could have handled the expanse of content they would have added their cut content and added more to the story.

  • @mervo64 Hmm, well you miss the point entirely in your diatribe. The idea behind the towns and apparently the world map was to create a world to be immersed into. It so happens a lot of RPG fans over here and in japan liked the aspect of roaming and traveling a world as opposed to just running down a hall starting/finishing fights just to watch parts of a movie if you liked FFXIII's method of storytelling then you'd love Heavy Rain since it's basically a similar concept in execution ;)

  • lets play ff13

CUT SCENE ........ WALK FOR 1 HOUR ......... CUT SCENE

POINTLESS BATTLES ........ CUT SCENE ....... WALK FOR AN HOUR

WORST GAME OF ALL TIME HANDS DOWN

  • It's called "change". Get with it, or GTFO.

  • THIS IS A NOOB GAMEif i ever saw one

  • If they want to make it appeal to western audiences, they should pay attention to western RPGs like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. A huge part of the appeal of both of these games I the open ened exploration. We like exploration in our games. If we didn', we wouldn't like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls

  • @egervari They still could have added towns, shops, npcs, a world map, and areas of exploration to the game. The plot progressed way too fast and kept that fast pace throughout the game. They should have slowed it down and allowed us to get a feel of the world. The characters could have been incognito when it came to going into towns so they freely do the standard rpg type things in a town. This would have made the game immensely better and actually enjoyable.
