That's what she said... :-)

They didn't use grape shot in the War between the States. They used Canister Shot. a lot smaller and a lot more effective.

@crazycuntryboy2 If they didn't use grapeshot in during the war, then Why do I find grape shot when relic hunting? They definately did use grape shot as well.

I have made a cannon in my machine shop class and im wondering if my barrel needs to be hardened to shoot
iamnedd 7 months ago
@iamnedd
NO, Do not harden your Barrel it needs to give a little when fired. If you harden it it can't give or (Stretch), it will shatter and wound you and anyone near you or worse. Go to "Graybeard Outdoors" on the internet for a lot of great info and advice on safe firing of Cannon.

Any chance of the blueprints or technical drawings being available. I would love to make one.

Sorry but no. I made mine by looking at a lot of pictures, I have no prints.

Nice, how long did it take to build? What kind of range does it have?

@DoctorHowitzer
I have about 150 hours in the build mostly in the wheels. I don't know exactly how much range it has but I shoot 800 grains of FF black powder behind a 1 lb. lead ball and I put a round through a five gallon bucket full of water at 75 yards and it was another 75 to 80 yards to the tree line and a friend heard the ball crashing through the trees :)
