I'm not sure about this species of catfish but I believe they don't like bright light and prefer to hide in or under stuff. I would give him some more shelter/hiding places and install a lower wattage bulb. Nice cat! =)

It's illegal to take a Tandanus from the water in most States as far as I am aware.. Pet shops sell these guys by the hundreds each week, and other natives. Farmed in commercial tanks, or something.

Is it the species from the SW of Australia, Tandanus bostocki (freshwater cobbler)?

I have never heard of a "Tandanus bostocki"
My catfish is a "Plotosus tandanus" Commonly known as Eel-tailed Catfish, Jewfish, Tandon, 'Tandanus tandanus'
They are found in Murray-Darling basin in North Western Victoria and Western New South Wales.
As far as I know there are two types of species: Tandanus & Neosilurus
'Tandanus bostocki' would be a name for one of these two species or maybe a third species that I am not aware of

It's a Tandanus Catfish, sometimes known as Dew Fish. Native to Australia
