Great waiata. Few know that it originated as a Kanak song from New Caledonia, translated and adapted by two Maori women who travelled there in the '80s and spent time with the independence movement.

Cool! Hōhepa is a lecturer at Massey University who starts every class wth a song - gotta love it! There are a couple of Americans in the class too. Did you know Hawaiian language has a lot of similarities to Māori?

It's only 2 chords. The comments section here doesn't allow spaces so i couldn't format it how i wanted but hopefully you get it. The change back to Aminor is on "nui". The formatting changes when i post it.
